Collections

Collections are lightweight folders for grouping related references. Membership is explicit: adding an item to a collection links it there, so one item can live in several collections without being duplicated, and retagging an item later never changes which collections it belongs to.

Browsing collections

In Collections, the newest created collections appear first. The grid uses the same landscape cards as Studio projects and adds columns on wider screens. Use the List / Grid switch at the top right to choose between previews and compact rows with inspiration counts and creation dates. Memo remembers this choice in your browser. Search filters collection names in either layout. Select anywhere on a card to open its collection. The inspiration count sits directly beneath the title.

Creating a collection

Create a collection from your library (Collections view → New collection). Give it a name, then pick what goes in: saved inspirations from the All tab, or Studio generations from the Generated tab of the same picker. Choose Add to collection on an inspiration, generated result, or asset card to open the same navigator:

1. Choose General collections, or select a Brand Kit on the left.
2. Check the collections you want on the right. Each checkbox saves immediately; an existing membership is already checked.
3. Switch destinations to file the same item in more than one place.
4. Choose Done when finished.

New collection creates a collection in the destination you are viewing and adds the item to it. If saving fails, the checkbox returns to its previous state and a message explains the error. Uncheck a collection to remove that membership without deleting the item. Reopening the picker reuses recently loaded collections and their checkmarks. Memo prepares destinations as you open an item’s menu or point to a destination. A destination you have not loaded yet may briefly show a loading indicator. After a save is confirmed, you can continue immediately while the library refreshes in the background.

Taste profile and keywords

Open a collection and the header above the grid tells you, and your AI, what the references have in common:

• Taste profile — a short paragraph describing the aesthetic that ties the references together: medium, mood, palette and lighting, subjects, era or influences. Memo writes it the first time you open a collection that has references, from the titles, descriptions and tags it already produced for each one. No credits are charged.
• Keywords — five to eight prompt-ready phrases distilled from the same references. Use the copy icon next to the heading to paste them straight into a prompt.

The profile remembers how many references it was written from. Add or remove references and the header notes that the collection has changed; use the refresh icon next to Taste profile to write it again. A collection with no references shows an Analyze collection prompt once you add some. Viewers see the header but cannot refresh it. Your connected agent gets the same header: get_collection returns the taste profile and its keywords, and flags a stale profile. Ask it “what’s the vibe of the Futurist Glam collection?” and it answers from the profile; ask it to generate from the collection and the profile is its brief. The agent can also write or refresh the profile itself with update_collection, after reading the references, so a collection filled by your agent is described by your agent.

Adding and removing items

• Add to collection — from the card’s menu; the navigator shows both General collections and Brand Kits
• Add inspirations — inside a collection, the picker at the top right adds saved inspirations or generated results
• Remove from collection — same menu when browsing within a collection

Your connected agent can also file in bulk by tag (add_to_collection with tags): every inspiration carrying any of the chosen tags is added once, as a snapshot rather than a live rule. Adding an item to a collection doesn’t move it out of your main library. Removing it doesn’t delete it — it just unlinks.

Filing generations

Anything you generate can become a curated reference, from wherever you are looking at it:

• Studio → a project’s assets — hover a card and choose Add to collection, or open the card and use the action bar
• Workflows → Runs — the same action on every run output
• Images and Videos tools — hover a result tile

The picker is the one inspiration cards use, and it already knows which collections the generation is in. Under the hood Memo copies the media into your library, so the reference keeps working even if the project it was made in is deleted later. Each generation maps to one library item: adding it to a second collection files that same item, never a duplicate. Filed generations live inside collections only, so the main Inspirations feed stays what you captured from the web. Your connected agent has the same door: add_inspirations with a generation_id and a collection_id.

When to use collections

Use collections to group references for a purpose:

• “Q3 campaign moodboard”
• “Brand refresh 2026”
• “Client X — winter shoot”
• Style exploration — group by aesthetic direction to compare approaches

A collection groups references; a Studio project holds the working canvas, its conversations and its own assets page with folders (Characters, Locations, Props and yours). Project folders sort what was made in one project; collections gather references across projects. Neither determines brand inheritance. General and Brand Kit collections have separate homes, but share the same filing navigator. An item can belong to both. For assets that belong to a brand, use Assets → Add to collection and choose the Brand Kit on the left. Kit collections support product and style images, characters, graphic elements, photography, and videos. A kit’s Unfiled view keeps assets accessible after their last kit collection membership is removed. See Filing assets into a kit. Your connected agent can read a collection with get_collection, including its captured and generated references. Ask it to use that named collection when preparing a brief; collection membership alone does not attach every item to every scene.

Managing collections

From your library you can:

• Browse within any collection to see its contents
• Rename a collection
• Delete a collection (removes the grouping, not the items inside)

Embedded videos such as YouTube references can be filed in General collections. Upload the actual clip to save it in a Brand Kit. Filing an existing asset preserves its original type and name; no extra media upload is needed.
